Two Perspectives. One Shared Belief.

Sarah Goodall and Susan Emerick have spent their careers helping organizations understand how people, networks and digital communication shape trust and business outcomes.  The Employee Influencer brings those perspectives together, connecting the strategic evolution of influence with the practical reality of making it work inside complex organizations.

Sarah and Susan bring experience from both sides of the Atlantic and from global organizations operating across very different cultures, markets and levels of digital maturity.

That matters because employee influence cannot be reduced to one platform, one country or one style of visibility. Culture affects how people show up, how comfortable they are with personal visibility, how leadership is expressed and how organizations balance consistency with local relevance.

The book reflects that complexity while maintaining one central principle: influence works when people are trusted, enabled and connected to a clear organizational purpose.

Why We Wrote This Book Together

We kept seeing the same pattern across industries, geographies and organizations at very different stages of maturity.

Companies increasingly understood that employees could build trust, shape perception and influence decisions. At the same time, they were investing in employee advocacy, executive visibility, social selling, employer branding and thought leadership - often as separate initiatives owned by different teams.

Marketing focused on reach and content. Sales focused on relationships and pipeline. HR focused on culture and employer brand. Communications focused on messaging and reputation. Each effort created value, but too often in isolation.

We were seeing two sides of the same challenge. One perspective focused on the broader shift in how trust and influence operate through people rather than channels. The other focused on execution: how organizations create the structure, support, confidence and alignment needed to make employee influence work at scale.

The gap between those perspectives became the book.

The Employee Influencer brings strategy and execution together to show how organizations can move beyond fragmented programs and build a coordinated, credible and scalable system of influence.
